New Delhi [India], December 19: In the world of sports, stories of passion and dedication often emerge that inspire generations to come. Such is the story of Mr. Tapan Acharya, the recently re-elected President of the Roll Ball Federation of India, whose extraordinary commitment and vision have brought a fresh sparkle to the world of Roll Ball.

Milind Kshirsagar’s heartfelt Facebook post aptly sums up the remarkable journey of this dynamic leader, who was first captured on camera during the National Games in Goa in October-November last year. “His way of working and his visionary approach were unlike anything I had seen before,” wrote Kshirsagar, recounting how Tapan’s meticulous planning and execution during the event revealed his potential to lead a new generation towards bigger dreams.

The Struggles of a Legacy

Roll Ball, a sport born out of the determination of its founder, Mr. Raju Dabhade, has faced its fair share of struggles. Over 25 years, Dabhade’s relentless efforts ensured the game’s survival and growth, culminating in six World Cups and its adoption in 61 countries. The torch of this legacy now passes to Tapan Acharya, a leader with a diamond-like clarity of vision and the ability to act decisively under pressure.

A Visionary at Work

Kshirsagar vividly recalls witnessing Tapan’s leadership during the National Championships in Pune. “Destiny brought us together on stage, and I got a closer look at his leadership qualities. Though initially appointed as an Interim President for a year, his exceptional work earned him unanimous re-election for a full four-year term in October 2024,” he noted.

Tapan Acharya, a prominent businessman,  filmmaker  and influential figure in Goa’s political circles, combines his professional acumen with a passion for sports development. His proactive engagement in initiatives like the Roll Ball League in Mumbai has left a lasting impression on his peers.

A President Like No Other

The narrative reaches its peak with an incident during preparations for the fourth Asia Cup in Goa, set to take place from December 16 to 19. Teams from across the globe began arriving, and Tapan personally ensured every detail of their arrival was handled flawlessly.

Recounting the events, Kshirsagar shares, “When the Philippine team arrived in batches late at night, there was chaos. One player landed hours earlier, others arrived around midnight, and confusion reigned. Despite delegating the task to me and providing his own car for the job, Tapan personally intervened when things got complicated.”

In an extraordinary act of leadership, Tapan drove across Goa in the dead of night, ensuring each player was located and safely transported to their hotel. “By the time the players settled into their rooms at Ocean View Hotel, it was past 4 AM, but Tapan was still in touch, coordinating every step,” Kshirsagar marveled.

Beyond Expectations

“Will the president of a sports organization behave like this?” Kshirsagar asks rhetorically, marveling at Tapan’s hands-on approach. His actions reflect not only a deep sense of responsibility but also an unmatched dedication to the sport and its players.

A New Era for Roll Ball

Under Tapan Acharya’s presidency, Roll Ball is poised for a renaissance. His leadership signifies the dawn of a new era, where the sport not only thrives but also inspires countless young athletes to dream big. As Milind Kshirsagar aptly puts it, “Raju’s legacy has truly found a diamond to carry it forward.”

From sleepless nights ensuring logistical perfection to long-term plans for the game’s growth, Tapan Acharya exemplifies what it means to lead by example. With such passionate stewardship, the future of Roll Ball shines brighter than ever.
