SIMS Pune felicitates the student achievements during its Special Awards Ceremony 2022

March 28: Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS), Pune, a constituent of Symbiosis International (Deemed University), successfully conducted its 28th Special Awards Ceremony 2022 for its 28th MBA Batch 2020-22, 14th MBA (E) Batch 2019-22 and 12th Executive PGDM Batch 2021-22.

Felicitating the achievements of the Students of the Passing Out MBA batches, Mr. Karn Kute, Senior Director, Client Services at Infosys and Chief Guest at SIMS Special Award Ceremony 2022 advised, “Be Pedantic about doing the trivial tasks well. Be Open to Change. A Career is a Marathon and not a Sprint. You decide when to pick the pace and win from the back of the pack.”

Each year, the special awards ceremony of SIMS recognises the contributions and achievements of students. The annual celebration of the institute recognises and honours the outstanding success of its student managers, which is a never-ending pursuit for them. The Institute has a robust system in place to recognise and reward students who have excelled not only academically but also in other areas such as general proficiency and extracurricular activities throughout the year.

This special commendation ceremony was graced by the presence of the chief guest, Mr. Karn Kute, an alumnus of SIMS, Pune batch of 2005-07, who has a rich 15 years of experience across technology, consulting, and outsourcing while working with several Fortune 100 clients.

The ceremony also witnessed the esteemed presence of Dr. Ramakrishnan Raman, Dean – Faculty of Management, Symbiosis and Director SIBM, Pune along with the other dignitaries and the entire fraternity of SIMS including students, faculty, and staff.

The welcome address was given by Brig (Dr.) Rajiv Divekar, Director, Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, Pune. He congratulated the passing out batch for imbibing the culture and values of the institute namely – discipline, leadership, empathy, and commitment, despite the disruption of Covid-19. He stressed how each student was an achiever, living up to the motto of “Make a Difference” and how they are all ready to step into the corporate world as “leaders”. He also applauded the commendable efforts of students and teams who took up various initiatives during the year by participating and winning in various national level B school competitions, publishing research papers, authoring books, organizing events and social media activities, which gave students an opportunity to learn in sync with the changing world.

In his address, Dr. Ramakrishnan Raman, Director, SIBM, Pune, highlighted “10 Lessons to Remember” before entering into the corporate world which would be of immense value to the passing out batch. He said, “Every day is a blessing, keep adding value”. He also underlined the importance of “Integrity, Intelligence, and Energy”, “Perception, Performance, and Promotion” and shared many such valuable tips for student managers to keep in mind. He also gave the transformational leaders life lessons on a healthy lifestyle, ethical conduct, and the importance of your own journey or “running your own race” as he called it.

Chief Guest, Mr. Karn Kute spoke about how SIMS, Pune gives students a fantastic foundation and a headstart in their corporate career and the things that you learn as one grows “From Campus to the Corporate World”. While giving insight into his personal and professional journey to help student managers understand how to navigate their journey in the corporate world, he emphasized the initial challenges in the workplace that student managers would face to being open & adaptable to change and learning.

SIMS, Pune has always provided its students with a multitude of opportunities. It has always given the platform and the means to achieve greater heights. And to keep up the spirit of competition and the zeal to achieve more, there were several awards felicitating the topper across specializations (academics) sponsored by the Army.  Several other awards included the faculty and director awards for outstanding contribution in various fields, Prof Dr. S B Mujumdar Award for dedication and commitment. Other awards included Finance Wizard Award, Best Researcher Award, and the SIMS Brand Ambassador Award. There were awards presented under the name of faculty and alumni including the Late Shreekant Phadke Award for Statistics, Charu Kapoor Award for HR, Prof. PNN Iyer Award for International Business, late Lt. Col. C V Yeravdekar Award for excellence in academics, Aditya Balakrishnan Award for excellence in Finance, Net Surf Award and Siddharth Handoo Award for excellence in Marketing to motivate the student managers of SIMS, Pune to achieve greater heights and excel.

SIMS believes in providing holistic development to its student managers. The institute has a plethora of student-driven cells and clubs. The special awards were also extended to the clubs and cells who worked around the clock and throughout the year to conduct various activities and national level competitions, imparting skills such as leadership, teamwork, and confidence. SIMS, Pune awarded gold, silver, and bronze trophies based on the performances of various teams and cells to reward their achievements.

Such ceremonies and honors are valuable to the institute in ways that go beyond the people honored. Individuals and groups who exemplify the institute’s basic values are crucial in serving as role models and motivators for others.
