Giving hopes and transforming lives, revolutionizing mental health wellness – Sumatha Nayak, founder, itsoksupport.com

March 4: Sumatha Nayak, the founder of Digital Mental Wellness platform itsoksupport.com is a women entrepreneur, fitness freak, a spiritual seeker, an avid traveller and a compassionate human.  An Iron Lady with immense will power, great business acumen and a dashing smile with a twinkle in her eyes have motivated innumerable people both emotionally and spiritually.

After the onset of Covid19 pandemic, Sumatha started getting calls from a lot of people seeking guidance on how to cope up with stress and mental agony. Out of these calls for help, a significant number was from parents of children going through the same.  This kindled a thought in her, No child should suffer psychologically and no man or woman feel neglected and thus she started her journey of itsoksupport.com, a digital mental wellness platform.

The vision of Itsoksupport.com is “To create a community where each and every individual is brimming with joy, self-confidence, emotional stability, inner peace and happiness, with the help of highly qualified professionals through a digital platform”.

Team itsoksupport.com consists of highly qualified and experienced professionals which include Psychiatrists, Psychologist, Psychotherapists, Fitness Experts, Nutritionists, and Life Coaches who have achieved clinical excellence and expertise in the art of human care and counselling, and this is what makes itsoksupport.com different from many other mental health wellness platforms.

Sumatha says “Our organisation offers all services related to mental health which can be offered online, along with Family Counselling.  Family is the basic unit of the society. The health of the society largely depends on these functional families. All the members of the family living in harmony, having values that lead to the happiness of every member of the family ultimately resulting in the all-round development of every individual is the utmost goal of every family.

Family counselling or Family therapy is a type of psychological counselling that can help family members to improve communication and resolve conflicts. This may include spousal relationship, parent- child relationship, sibling cordiality, dealing with the elderly or any issues relating to family.

Families are given an opportunity to work on their problems in a safe and controlled environment with their counsellor. Family counselling can enhance skills required for healthy functioning of the family. This may include healthy communication, conflict resolution and problem solving”.

Itsoksupport.com also conducts virtual camps for children of age 10 to 15 which is named as Shining Me. Sumatha Says “With a lot of enquiries for child counselling, a thought triggered in my mind that while we are addressing  various  child related mental health issues, we have to develop a program which will focus on child’s all round development, by enhancing the child’s talent and developing  life skills to face any challenges of life. This virtual camp is exclusively for the age group of 10 to 15 years, consisting of 12 sessions spread over 6 weeks. Two Sessions every week on Saturday and Sunday.  Individual guidance is given to the kids in between the sessions, with focus on every child during the entire duration of the virtual camp”.

Few of the topics included are Who Am I? in which a child learns to know the most authentic version of oneself, Social and Emotional Attitude where they learn how to empathize with peers, share joy and pain, Positive Affirmations which gives tips to focus on the brighter side of life, by being positive, Safe and Unsafe Behaviour which helps children differentiate between good and bad touches and stresses on the importance of talking about them to parents and people they trust, Yoga, Nutrition, Cyber Safety etc.

Sumatha Nayak believes that today’s corporate wellness programs tend to focus on helping employees improve their health by creating clinical improvement initiatives around certain measures such as blood pressure, BMI, cholesterol, glucose, and smoking cessation etc.

However, a focus on mental health and emotional wellness is often missing from these health   programs. While mental health is not as easily measured as blood pressure or cholesterol, it deserves equal attention especially when considering the costs associated with poor mental and emotional health.

Productivity loss, absenteeism, job abandonment, low turnover are often directly linked to poor mental health. Research shows “That people with symptoms of depression have a   5 fold or greater increase in time lost from work, compared to those without symptoms of depression.”

Itsoksupport.com has developed a unique and a holistic approach Corporate Wellness Program, which covers both the aspects of Physical and Mental well-being of the employee.

Itsoksupport.com aims at building a conscious and a productive community along with the values of humanity and inclusiveness.  We wish Sumatha Nayak and itsoksupport.com all the best in serving humanity and spreading happiness.
