Apsara Rani Breaks Her Glamorous Image with a Challenging Role in Bollywood Debut Lohitaksha

The actress, known for her glamorous roles in South cinema, will be seen in a refreshing new avatar opposite Siddhant Issar in Bhupindarra’s psychological thriller.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 20: Actress Apsara Rani, who has made her mark in the Odia film industry and appeared in Telugu and Tamil films, is all set to make her Bollywood debut with Lohitaksha. Written, directed and produced by Bhupindarra, the upcoming Hindi psychological thriller will showcase the actress in a completely different avatar from her glamorous roles, including her appearance in Ram Gopal Varma’s Thriller.

In Lohitaksha, Apsara plays a cute, bubbly, culturally rooted and responsible housewife who is madly in love with her husband, played by Siddhant Issar, son of veteran actor Puneet Issar. Her character is also a working professional who stands by her husband as he navigates complicated mental and emotional struggles. However, his toxic behaviour and darker shades bring several challenges into their relationship, making the husband-wife dynamic a crucial part of the narrative.

The role marks a significant departure from Apsara’s previous screen image. To bring authenticity to her character, the actress underwent a physical transformation, including putting on weight, to achieve the desired look of a relatable, bubbly housewife. The character also required her to explore a more emotionally nuanced performance, balancing love, responsibility and the complexities of a troubled marriage.

The film’s trailer has already generated curiosity among audiences, with viewers expressing surprise at Apsara’s transformation and appreciating her refreshing new look.

For Apsara, Lohitaksha is particularly close to her heart. She is excited about her Bollywood debut and believes the film is essentially a love story with several grey shades, exploring the complexities of a relationship between two people. Looking forward to audience reactions upon release, she hopes the role will open doors to more meaningful and performance-oriented opportunities in Hindi cinema.

Director Bhupindarra has praised Apsara’s performance, professionalism and dedication, highlighting how convincingly she has carried herself in this unfamiliar role. He believes Lohitaksha will reveal a new dimension of her talent and could prove to be a significant breakthrough in her career.

Featuring Siddhant Issar, Apsara Rani, Kamlesh Sawant and Su Kumarr Tudu, Lohitaksha explores relationships, psychological conflict and the darker side of human emotions.

Produced by Gana Vikas Films, the film is scheduled for theatrical release on October 23, 2026.
