From Ahmedabad to the World: Ashish Patel’s Journey Building a Spices Exporter in India

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], October 23: Indian spices have been valued around the world for centuries for their flavour, aroma and variety. Turning that heritage into a successful international business takes more than good raw material. It needs manufacturing expertise, consistent quality and a clear understanding of what overseas buyers expect. That is the path Ashish Patel has followed in building AQF Ingredients LLP into a growing spices exporter in India.

For Ashish Patel, Director of AQF Ingredients LLP (Anmol Quality Foods), the journey began in 2006 with a passion for Indian spices and small-scale trading. What started as a modest venture has grown into a food-ingredient business with manufacturing in Gujarat and customers in several international markets.

From Trading to Manufacturing

In 2009, the business set up its base in Ahmedabad, strengthening its operations in Gujarat, one of India’s key spice-growing and export regions. A year later, it moved into manufacturing with an automated onion dehydration plant, laying the foundation for its dehydrated ingredient range.

In 2016, the company added its own spice blending unit, moving beyond single spices into customised blends and value-added ingredients.

These milestones turned AQF into a broader ingredient business, combining India’s traditional sourcing strengths with modern processing.

A Manufacturer-Exporter Serving Global Food Businesses

Today, AQF Ingredients supplies whole spices, spice powders, seasonings, customised blends, dehydrated vegetables and spray-dried powders. Its range also includes onion and garlic flakes and powders, and potato flakes.

Unlike traders who buy and resell, AQF operates as a manufacturer-exporter. It sources, processes, tests and packs products itself, then handles export documentation and shipping. Importers can combine several products in one container and work with a single supplier instead of several. Buyers looking for a direct-from-manufacturer spices exporter in India can ship on FOB or CIF terms, with lot-wise test reports supplied with each order.

The company’s customers include food businesses across the European Union, Israel and the United States. A UK warehouse supports faster supply to customers in the United Kingdom.

Quality at the Centre of Growth

For global food businesses, ingredient quality means more than flavour. Consistency, traceability, microbiological standards and reliable supply matter just as much.

AQF’s quality framework includes laboratory analysis, raw-material and finished-product testing, traceability systems and food-safety practices. The company holds BRCGS, FSSC 22000, SEDEX and Kosher certifications. It also offers EU-IPM-grade spices and dehydrated ingredients, grown and processed to meet EU residue standards for buyers in Europe and the UK.

AQF also provides R&D and product-development support for customers who need customised ingredient solutions.

Taking India’s Spice Heritage to the World

From small-scale spice trading in 2006 to manufacturing and international expansion, Ashish Patel’s journey shows how an Indian ingredient business can compete in global markets.

As demand grows for traceable, high-quality ingredients, the role of a reliable spices exporter in India is becoming more important to food manufacturers worldwide. Under Ashish Patel’s leadership, AQF Ingredients continues to build on India’s strengths in spices and agricultural ingredients, bringing sourcing, manufacturing, quality and customisation together under one roof.

From Ahmedabad to international markets, the vision is clear: to bring the quality and diversity of Indian ingredients to food businesses around the world.
