Dr. Praveen Pushkar a Practising Urologist, Launches DocLogbook to Transform Medical Career Management with a Digital Professional Portfolio for Doctors

Bokaro Steel City (Jharkhand) [India], July 29: Healthcare has witnessed remarkable digital transformation over the past decade. Hospitals have adopted Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), artificial intelligence is assisting diagnosis, robotic surgery is becoming increasingly common, and digital health platforms are changing the way patients receive care. However, one important area has remained surprisingly underserved—the professional career management of doctors themselves.

Recognising this challenge, Dr. Praveen Pushkar, a practising Urologist and Robotic Surgeon, has launched DocLogbook, a digital medical portfolio and career management platform designed to help doctors organise and manage every aspect of their professional journey.

The idea behind DocLogbook did not originate in a boardroom or technology incubator. It emerged from years of personal experience navigating medical education, residency training, surgical practice, academic activities, and professional documentation.

“Throughout my medical career, I realised that while we carefully document every detail of patient care, there was no single place to organise our own professional achievements,” said Dr. Pushkar. “Procedures, surgeries, research publications, conference presentations, certifications, awards, teaching activities, and CV updates were scattered across paper logbooks, spreadsheets, hospital systems, email folders, cloud storage, and notebooks. Every fellowship application, appraisal, promotion, or academic submission meant searching through multiple sources.”

The problem is not unique to one specialty or one country. Medical students, residents, fellows, consultants, and surgeons worldwide face similar challenges in documenting their professional development. As competency-based medical education becomes increasingly important and regulatory bodies encourage structured documentation, maintaining an accurate professional portfolio has become an essential part of a doctor’s career.

While several digital procedure logbooks and institutional portfolio systems exist, most focus on documenting surgical procedures or residency requirements alone. According to Dr. Pushkar, today’s healthcare professionals require a much broader solution.

“Doctors don’t just perform procedures,” he explained. “We publish research, attend conferences, complete certifications, teach students, participate in workshops, build academic portfolios, and constantly update our professional credentials. These activities define our careers, yet they’re often managed through disconnected systems.”

DocLogbook was developed to address this fragmentation by bringing professional records together in a single secure platform. The application enables doctors to record clinical procedures and surgeries, maintain certifications and Continuing Medical Education (CME) records, organise research publications and conference presentations, build professional CVs, monitor career milestones, and manage practice-related information across multiple hospitals.

The platform also includes tools designed to simplify day-to-day professional management. Doctors can maintain clinical diaries, organise schedules, monitor analytics, and manage financial records related to their clinical practice. By integrating these functions, DocLogbook aims to reduce administrative burden while helping doctors keep an organised and continuously updated professional portfolio.

Another important aspect of the platform is its privacy-focused design. As healthcare organisations around the world place increasing emphasis on data protection, DocLogbook is being developed with secure handling of professional information and privacy-conscious architecture. The company is also working toward international best practices to support doctors practising in different healthcare systems.

Artificial intelligence is expected to play a major role in the platform’s future development. Planned AI-powered capabilities include intelligent career summaries, automated CV generation, voice-assisted documentation, portfolio analytics, and conversational assistance that allows doctors to interact naturally with their professional records.

Imagine asking a digital assistant, “How many laparoscopic procedures did I perform last year?” or “Generate a fellowship-ready CV based on my current portfolio.” Instead of searching through multiple documents, the information could be generated within seconds.

According to Dr. Pushkar, the objective is not to replace clinical documentation systems but to complement them by helping doctors manage their own careers more efficiently.

“Our vision is to build the professional operating system for doctors,” he said. “Healthcare has invested heavily in technologies that improve patient care, and rightly so. We believe doctors also deserve intelligent digital tools that simplify documentation, reduce administrative workload, and support lifelong professional growth.”

Although initially developed with Indian healthcare professionals in mind, DocLogbook has already attracted users from multiple countries, demonstrating that the need for structured digital career management extends well beyond national boundaries. As medical professionals increasingly pursue international fellowships, cross-border training programmes, research collaborations, and multi-centre practice, maintaining a comprehensive digital professional portfolio is becoming increasingly valuable.

Looking ahead, the company plans to continue expanding its AI capabilities while strengthening features that support residents, consultants, academic institutions, and healthcare organisations. The long-term goal is to create a platform that accompanies doctors throughout every stage of their professional journey—from medical school to residency, specialist training, consultancy, research, teaching, and beyond.
